It's a little bothersome, but we lack another good demonym, so I don't see it as much of an issue. It would be odd to always say U.S., but still say American.

All I am seeing here is further examples of American Exceptionalism and its Imperialism-like values.

The United States has had a poor record of valuing privacy above else. Surveillance systems are everywhere, even in some bathrooms. They've repeatedly tried to pass extremely invasive bills like SOPA, CISPA, and the like.


Also, may I remind you, "democracy" does not appear once in the constitution. Look for it yourself and reply if you actually have.
