Author Topic: Headphones?  (Read 1435 times)

I'm looking for a good pair of headphones, and my price range is up to $60. I plan on only using them for listening to music on my iPod Touch, so no microphone, and can't be a USB pair. Any ideas?

AKG K240

They look stupid as hell, but they sound incredible.

Those don't look bad at all? You'd probably get called retro by wannabe hipsters, but they still look neat. They beat dre beats by MILES.

Steelseries flux. They sound great.

You gotta admit they look bulky/tacky. They comfortable as hell, though.

I actually kind of like how beats look; they don't look to comfortable, though.

The reason I'm going with Headphones instead of Earphones is because Earphones just fall out.

I'm trying to have the best quality for the price by omitting a microphone. I'm not looking for a gaming headset, I've got one. It's just, it's USB and so I can't use it for my iPod Touch.

I'll think about that, and I'm thinking about walking to Radioshack tomorrow, see what they have.

beats look pretty neat imo
that doesn't mean they're worth buying, though

Beats look douchey and have awful sound quality for the price.
You really can't go wrong with anything by Sennheiser.

Audio Technica M-30

These are by far the best headphones I've ever owned. I've tried Senheisers, but the cups felt really weird on my head.

You cant go wrong with one of the following brands:

Sennheiser, Audio Technica, AKG, Beyerdynamic.

A really cheap but quite nice sounding headphone would be Koss Porta Pro.

I've heard great things about Koss headphones but never got to try any. Are they really as good as people say?

I've had several of them.

The sound quality is quite good, compared to other headphones in that price range. They've got a lively and warm bass, making them perfect for rock, metal or electronic music. But they can also handle classical music. One of the cons is that they don't isolate very well. The sound leaks to the outside. They are also quite bad at blocking sounds from the outside. That is of course expected, because they do not enclose the ear like other headphones.
They are very light and sit well on your head, making them suitable for outdoor use and working out. Some people say they look ugly, but I don't care about the esthetics that much.

Oh, and they also come with a (limited) lifetime warranty, which is convenient. That means that if the headphones stop working, you just go to the store and get a new pair. Being priced at $30, I recommend these to everyone with a tight budget.

This pretty much describes my M-30s. The warranty is great, so when I accidentally tripped and broke the 3.5mm jack off of mine they repaired it fast and for free. The only real problem with mine is that like yours they do leak a lot of sound, and they are a tad underpowered. I often find myself having the volume on max to hear my music well, but it's still within reasoning so I don't mind.
