My school didn't even bother plowing the other day til like 9 in the morning. The roads weren't even salted or anything, neither were the sidewalks. It loving sucked.
Despite there not being much snow or ice where I am in particular (in more outlying areas there have been), there has been a considerable number of crashes and near-misses by students at my college.
Most of them have only ever learnt to drive in dry summer/autumn weather or at the very least in rain.
And being first-time drivers, it's their first time driving in icy conditions.
I know there have been a few small crashes among car users, and atleast a couple of people who have completely crashed motorbike/mopeds and come off of them.
One person I know from school was hospitalised the other week after his moped slipped, he hit a curb and crashed into a lamp-post.
A lot of people have resorted to taking public transport for the moment.
Especially since being young drivers, having any accident is going to shoot Insurance premiums through the roof, and they're already especially high for all young people.
