I use zoom blur for impact effects, and in the last scene I think it worked out fine. But yeah I guess I do need a way to do moving effects.

You know of a magic spell that can cancel all ongoing magic attacks belonging to the race you choose, but it takes time to charge, and the time you have now isn't nearly close. You need a way to stall the laser or at least get more defenses. What should you do?

No. The Thu Laser at it's current stage can break down your shields, killing your teammates and you (if you hadn't moved). You some time to charge up your spell, but the time you have now isn't enough.
