I probably won't need a power supply since my sister's bf gave me his 500 watt power supply. I can get some upgrades as long as it's under $700. I also have almost no idea what I'm picking out.

do you really need a monitor

Yes, my old monitor was junked

That processor is overpriced, you can get a much better processor for less money.

Thanks, updated the list

Instead of making a new topic, would you mind if I left my build that I'm working on here? I was going to go with a Phenom processor, but someone told me that FX's are better...I've been working on this build for the past 3 weeks or so...if you want me to remove it I will.

If you end up buying that Phenom, and before I buy my build (which could be as late as Spring), tell me how you like it :)

Edit: I talked to some friends, and they said to go with a Phenom as well...so new link: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/AmnT

I have the 7770, while I admit it's good, I feel I'd be a little happier with the 7850. If you're willing to dish out a bit more, look into that.
Also, I see no reason to spend $50 on 8 gigs of RAM when you can shave that in half, and see extremely minor performance difference.

Do I need a CPU cooler?

Do I need a CPU cooler?
Yes
You can also use the one that comes with the cpu (if you buy boxed) but those do generally suck extremely and make more noise than the whole pc so go ahead and buy a good cpu cooler

Do I need a CPU cooler?

if you're not overclocking you can just use the one that comes with your CPU.

Do I need a CPU cooler?

no. the fan that comes with the motherboard is just fine.

you can even upgrade the fan if you want, but its really not needed.
