It's plugged in.
it lights up.
I go to System > Device Manager > Disk Drives and it is there.
I double click it
it says it is working properly.
Volumes is empty so i clicked populate and its all populated now.
Driver is correct.

Ok, but i don't see it anywhere else. I can't find it and i need to access files on it (when i click computer only C:\ and D:\ are there)

guys i need help, what do? I need some files on there really badly.

Try updating the device driver for it. You might even need some kinda of software to get windows to recognize it as a thumb drive

ok
I got everything working
I try to open it:
sry nop ur stopd bb
access loving denied.
what is this? i reformated it 9 times.

Hahaha, If you reformatted it then your forgeted when it comes to getting your files. You have officially wiped the drive

Yeah if you formatted it your files are gone

I need some files on there really badly.

I hope you didn't need them that badly because you just deleted them 9 times over

it was probably just a connection problem

i reformated it 9 times.
You commenced exterminatus for your files there. Nine times.

this topic is brilliance

Yeah if you formatted it your files are gone

I don't know how flash drives work entirely, but formatting is unlikely to have overwritten every piece of data on the drive. He could probably recover most of it using a freeware tool.

Highly improbable seeing as how he reformatted it 9 times. Usually reformatting any sort of memory device just one time wipes it clean.

I highly doubt formatting a drive securely erases all free space no matter how many times you do it.

As long as he hasn't overwritten the drive with new data (reformatting does not overwrite every part of the drive) then it is still there. Same for hard drives, don't think re-partitioning clears your data. No no.

Re-partitioning is a little different. That's like splitting the memory on the drive so you can run multiple operating systems. REFORMATTING however, clears all data on the drive.

Of course, like you said some data could be retained, but only if it was a quick format, or if the formatting was somehow interrupted. ex) user clicks cancel, or unplugs device

I think you are right there about the quick format vs full, I did some looking into it and some people seem to suggest a full format does shred the files instead of clear the table like quick would.

Of course. Nice seein ya again by the way Icy. It's been a while since we hung out :3
Maybe one of these days I'll be able to host again. Hopefully this upcoming month, actually.
