I'm serious.
I don't see why people look at a attempted destruction of an entire ethnic group and go "oh well people die every day what are you gonna do?"
The Holocaust was estimated to be roughly around 6 million to 17 million (under the broadest definition of all national socialist persecution, incl. Soviet civilians).
Josef Stalin killed 20 million of his own citizens without any real regard to "why" other than "enemy of the state" usually. And you don't even hear about this stuff usually.
Furthermore: there are plenty of African warlords slaughtering other Africans all in the name of "keeping fear in the populace", and there are plenty of Islam-run governments that stone people for a single infraction of Islam's law, and there are plenty of corrupt governments who jail citizens that speak out against them (see:
http://saveyoussef.com/ ).
Because really,
what are you going to do? stuff like this is so rampant and so ignored at this point it's no wonder that anyone who really understands that all these horrible atrocities are constantly ongoing on this planet just loving kill themselves.
Okay. I was stating that it was insensitive because the two things were incomparable.
Daily deaths =/= Government massacres. Unless millions of people are massacred by governments on a daily basis....? Right. I didn't think so.
You could've listed ANY massacre and it still would've been insensitive because of what i just said. Don't go around claiming stuff because I defended a popular massacre.
How are they not incomparable? How do you know millions of people aren't massacred by gov'ts on a daily basis? Hell, how do we even know millions are being massacred by gov'ts on a daily basis? This is an unanswerable question and it doesn't make you right.
