Author Topic: Is there any way to increase memory on a server?  (Read 2316 times)

I believe right now a server can use 1.67gb, would there be a way that Badspot could increase it? Doss this have to do with the game engine or something entirely different? Would there be better benefits compared to only having 1.67gb? I am thinking we could probably have more physics vehicles, exploding bricks, and on top having a pretty high brick count, stuff similar to that.

Hi Kalph

Hi Kalph

I've heard somewhere that it's not needed to go over 1.67GB because that's the most you'll need.

Kalphiter did this.

I think he modified a launcher to allocate more memory.
Don't ask me how to do it though, I have no idea

It's a limit due to Blockland being a 32-bit application.

If there were 64-bit support, it could use more RAM. But your computer would have to be 64-bit, of course.

probably left out some details or got some/all wrong but that's my understanding of it

supposedly, you can use a program like CFF Explorer to set the flag that the program can use >2GB of RAM though, but i never did any extensive testing myself

I don't get this, what does memory do for the server? I... I just don't get this. Someone please explain because I'm pretty stupid not knowing this.

I disagree, while 1.67gb can handle probably like 80 players, those players cant really do much. The most they can do is probably just spray paint cans and jump around. If they were all shooting guns, throwing grenades, building, or driving vehicles I doubt 1.67gb would be enough.

Damnit, that wont ever happen.

There's a switch in the .exe file you can change to get this to work.

Good luck getting that many people to join your server, though.

The limiting factor on vehicles and stuff like that is networking, not RAM.

Damnit, that wont ever happen.
Badspot has said it wouldn't be a bad idea in the past. Could happen.

He said that alot

The large address aware flag is already set in the current release of blockland.

Since when?

After the beginning of January, right?

Wait what, I don't understand the wording?
