Author Topic: What do I use to edit videos?  (Read 994 times)

Sony vegas costs a bajillion dollars, windows live movie maker won't let me use the timeline, cut the movies or anything, movie maker 2.6 won't let me make my video over 30sec, iMovie can't use .avi files.
I only need to put together some footage, do some fading and put in some audio.
Is there some really cheap or free video editor I can use for this?
And no loving watermarks, I've already got the fraps.com text on the top of every clip.

Paint? What.

Anyway, so far i have been using Windows Live Moviemaker because i never really felt like getting something else.
But if anyone comes with a decent suggestion, i'll take a look at it as well.

(Remember, no talking about pirating! (Just in case someone forgot))

They released Adobe Premiere CS2 for completely free not long ago
Its good enough...

I think you might have some operating system problems though, it works fine on my computer... (Windows XP)

Convert your .avi files to .mp4 files online somewhere

If you already own iMovie, just go with that

premiere absolutely kills me
how do you even use it bagrfha

I dont know if its just my computer, but Sony Vegas crashes on me WAAAY too easily.

same here

If you want a free one, get Premiere CS2.
If you can spare $50, Movie Studio 11 (Basically a dumbed down Vegas)
If you have $100, Movie Studio Platinum 12 (Like above, except twice as good)
If you just so happen to have $700 lying around then get Vegas lol

I paint my computer screen while I record it in project form with a camera in windows movie maker.
It's actually not that bad!

I've been lucky enough to get my hands on a copy of Adobe Premiere Pro CS5, but I think you can get older versions for a cheaper price.

I haven't heard much about Lightworks, and when I tried to use it I found it "asfgdklask what the forget am I doing" complex (Like Premiere and Vegas), but It's free so it's worth a try.

Windows Movie Maker...?

Quick Edit: Yes, I did notice that he mentioned it.  I can cut video and stuff just fine in in the timeline.

I've used:
WMM: Free
WLMM: Free
Roxio VideoLab: $100
AVS Video Editor $200?
Sony Vegas: $I forgot
