Lol, you must of had a virus that corrupted your paint.net. Essentially nothing is there but it will continue to say there is a file there. Your paint.net is stuck in limbo. You can't uninstall it, you can't instal it, you can't delete it and you can't repair it.

Your only option is to do a system restore.

or download gimp which is similar to paint.net

is this site safe

they're pretty different but i do agree in that gimp is better and more mutli-purpose than paint.net

paint.net is usually only good for pixel art and other simple stuff

Windows paint works just as well.
windows paint doesn't support transparency.

Yes it does, I've done it before. It's just really complicated.

regardless, i'd rather just select and delete whatever area i want transparent, rather than do whatever "really complicated" method you suggest

You have to select what color you want opaque and then everything belonging to that color becomes transparent. So you have to color around whatever it is you want.

As an avid user of Paint.Net, I am just curious, you did download it from www.getpaint.net, correct?
