Author Topic: ARES Combat Drone Vehicles  (Read 3304 times)

Recently it came to my attention that the ground warfare division of ARES was desperately undermanned. So I locked myself in my lab with a bunch of old computer parts and broken-down Panzers, and didn't come out until I was finished with these! The latest in unmanned ground combat vehicles!

Starting from the left, we have the Ballistic Re-entry / Armored War Lander. It's an all-terrain hovering heavy tank with a mean pair of Mega-Concussion Cannons which can be deployed from orbit, allowing them to show up anywhere, and at any time. Its armor is even tough enough to withstand both the strains of reentry and impact, let alone conventional anti-tank weapons. There's a bug in the AI though that causes it to be easily agitated and fire on whatever it thinks is attacking it, friend or foe. I'll work out that bug later...

Next up is the Subspace Observation / Undetected Neutralization and Destructive Wetware Application VEhicle. It may look like a wimpy-looking rocket platform at first, but there's more to this truck than meets the eye! It's fast, it's undetectable by pretty much anything aside from your own eyeballs, it carries its own complement of miniaturized spy drones, and it can tap into computer banks just about anywhere it has line-of-sight to, including ships in orbit! It's brutally effective too, I gave it the task of neutralizing a pirate ship and it decided to do so by venting the engine exhaust throughout the ship before turning its guns around and vaporizing the bridge. I sure hope it's more capable of identifying friend and foe than the tank.

Next, we have the SWift Infantry Neutralization and Desolation vehicLE. It started out as a humble salvage truck, but with a few drive train modifications, fuel line replacements, engine relocations, body overhauls, and the addition of a highly toxic Auto-Neutron Turret, I've turned it into a fine fast-attack vehicle too! Its machine spirits must have remembered its past as a salvage vehicle though, it kept coming back to me with the practice targets' weapons and personal effects.

Lastly is the STellar Aggressive Reconnaisance Strike Craft / Ranged Electostatic Assault Missiles. It's a lightning-fast drone fighter with SSTO capabilities and an arsenal of hidden weaponry, its' signiature one being a swarm of miniature EMP missiles which can easily overload most shield systems through sheer volume of fire. However this one's AI is quite rebellious, and keeps refusing my override commands to pursue its own agenda.

The strange thing is, these things are supposed to be one of a kind, and yet I've seen these models patrolling the area around the proving grounds. They dont respond to my control programs either, I think someone must be competing with me.

I agree, they're really nice! How tight are the insides of the ones on the Right?

my mind was in the gutter and i nearly choked on my gum

They're pretty small and plain. I don't understand what you're trying to do.
If I were to improve on them, I would rebuild them from scratch, using lots of different bricks.
They're just plain and boring. Where are all the cool little things? Why am I looking at this?

Perhaps they're built to fit some ARES style of building. What do I know.

Some of that, half of that, either of some, or neither, or you're just not Da Vinci.
Because I thought ARES was all like “hey we build good yo” so, you know.

The Brawl looks more like a spaceship than a ground vehicle.

he's a hovering tank

That looks very devastating.
Your engineering skills must be pretty good.

What I wanted to know was the relative size as in height and stuff, because if it was kind of small it IS possible to get a player in it. They may be out of it like a gunner or something, but yeah. I was just curious about how big it was...
