Ipad or Surface Pro?

It's time for me to buy another overly priced piece of technology and I want to know your opinions on whether I should get the iPad Retina (or suggest mini in a post) or the Surface Pro.  Both seem to fit my needs.

you could do waaaaaay more with a surface pro than you could with an ipad

especially an ipad mini, which is literally just a big cellphone or a small tablet

Ipads are underpowered. If you would consider android, Toshiba AT300/305 is awesome for it's price

Surface Pro, but be aware that the 64gb model has only 28gb usable
BUT YOU COULD THEORETICALLY PLAY BLOCKLAND ON IT SO EVERYTHING ELSE DOESN'T MATTER

that's the thing though, ipads are too damn common and they aren't even cool anymore

it's either that, or a tablet w/ a desktop and a keyboard that folds out, + it's probably bigger

i've never had problems with closed OSs. If I rooted my android phone, I probably wouldnt do stuff with it
