Use Windows 8 for a few minutes.  It's not bad at all.

Exactly. I don't know why people are so biased and can't understand that you can get rid of the metro ui and get back the real start menu in a quick download, and there is a desktop pane.

Heck, you can make your PC boot into desktop.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (v6.1, build 7601)

Vista 32bit

Windows 8 ???bit

this is no different from a good few other platforms and they aren't trying to make it the only method of acquiring software

this

Windows 7, I have yet to try 8. I hate using OSX.

Windows 7/Ubuntu

Dual-Boot

I personally feel that the last time i used 12.10, it slowed down alot. But that was a while ago.

Anyways, I feel much safer in the LTS versions and also I've seen people with problems about steam in 12.10. It varies.
I find ever since past 12 Ubuntu has gotten slower. I still like Ubuntu and everything and its been doing well with the updates but I don't feel it's as lightweight as it used to be. Programs seem to crash more often now, I get some errors once in a while, Advanced Drivers is no longer default but can be downloaded from the software center.

Windows 8 Pro.

Works faster than 7, definitely recommend it, don't listen to the rumors that its bad its only because some people can't accept change or the fact everything looks different.

It just takes a while to get used to it, but once your passed that, everything is perfect.
Also remind me why you need a start button when there is one on nearly every keyboard?
There is also a legacy start menu if you right click on the start button on the lower left corner.

Honestly, this so much.
