Well transparency is easy to fix. Especially with photoshop. You can have both.

no you can't
they can't have varying degrees of transparency, it's either all or nothing as far as that goes
so, the only way to have AA on the image in question is to have a white, or some other color, background, and make the edges blend with that instead

Weird, because whenever i do it, my images always have some sort of transparency when i'm done. It must just be the way i do it.
