I doubt that is the actual purpose because no matter what thing you're hitting the asteroid with you're still hitting the asteroid
The point is to be reminiscent of a train; it cannot be functionally the same.
The main concern on their mind most likely was to have the same interior as the other ships while having a new and same-sized thematic exterior.

starcheat is a good inventory editor. there's also probably a mod that allows you to put stuff in your inventory without needing to restart your client.

New Novakid armour sets.
It irks me a little bit that the names and designs are based off of both bandits, law enforcement, but you kind of go back and forth between them.
Also that they're all American cowboy designs, but then you decide to go Mexican for a little bit.

But overall, they're quite nice looking and interesting.
