Backstory
DrenDran tells you his life story.

So a while ago I tried to make a server I called resource TDM and it went quite well. There were various roles, miner, lumberjack, builder, soldier, and commander. It focused around a combonation of RTS style command, and the regular old TDM style blockland is used to, along with unlimited mining mod thrown in. I lost that code when I lost my old server and forgot to back it up, so that's dead.

The reason I bring that up is because I was actually going to remake that, but then remembered all the problems it had, for example, eventually the "dirt" blocks from the mining would jack the brick count up into the three hundred thousands in roughly two hours. I figured this could be solved by simply having resource points that provided resources, additionally, I could just use existing capture point scripts, and that this would be far simpler for the commander, rather than convicing a bunch of new players that they should only mine iron and not copper because the commander is only 123 iron away from researching lumberjack secondaries, or whatever.

Luckily I was also playing nuclear dawn at the time, and noticed the similarities. So I decided to port one of my favorite games to one of my other favorite games.

Gameplay
Or rather, how it'll be in Blockland.

There are two teams. On each team, one member is selected as the commander randomly from those that say they want to be it. The rest of the players play a FPS style game, while the commander rushes to his kommandobunker and loads up his commanding interface, which is in typical RTS style like Red Alert or Rise of Nations or Starcraft. The objective of the game for all players is simply to destroy the other teams bunker. To help with this there are resource points that can be captured. Once they are captured, they will provide a steady stream of income to the commander. There is one primary, two or three secondary, and many tertiary capture points, each giving a respective amount of income.

What I'll need
I just need models. This is a list of everything in the game...

Honestly I can't model too well, so the purpose of this topic is mostly to recruit a modler or two that can make some things for me.

  • Buildings
    • Commandobunker --- Where the commander goes to command. Must be destroyed to win.
    • Relay towers --- Supply power to buildings, all buildings must be built near one of these, including other relays.
    • Powerplant --- While the towers relay the power, these make it.
    • Transport gate --- Players may choose at which transport gate they'd like to spawn at. If there are none, no players may spawn.
    • Assembler --- Builds buildings. A commander may have multiple of these, but that's rare. If there is none, the commander may no longer build.
    • Supply station --- Supplies nearby units with health and ammunation.
    • Armony --- Unlocks more weapons for your players, and can be used to research new technologies.
    • Artillery --- Commander controlled structures that can bombard a particular area.
    • Turrets --- Automatically controlled structures that fire on enemy players or structures within range.
    • Radar Station --- Reveals enemy units (including stealthed units) in the area to the commander.
    • Wall --- wall
  • Classes
    • Assault
      • Infantry
      • Grenadier
      • Sniper
    • Exo
      • Suppression
      • Siege
    • Stealth
      • Attentäter?
      • Sabotuer
      • Sniper
    • Support
      • Engineer
      • Flamer
      • Medic
  • Other
    • A gui --- Will probably make this myself, might end up being required. Will have parts for both fighter and commander.
    • Maybe a resource point model --- But the capture point bricks might be enough.

Topic not quite done.

I preordered this game and then the community died before the beta was even over... It has a cool concept though.

I have Nuclear Dawn in my Steam Inventory.

I was in a 90 minute match on a full server just this morning.
It was the only server with more than one player.

But either way, blockland DOES have players, so this'll work nonetheless.

I could model perhaps.
Cannot even tell who you are, your name changes every day.

On topic: Are these all of the things you wanted modeled?

Mmm, I'll think of modeling However this sounds great.

What I guess I'd need modeled was the buildings.
I was gonna make them out of bricks, but not only would that look bad, but I have no idea how I'd keep track of it's health.
So I was gonna make them AIPlayers that didn't move and had models the same as the buildings.

The models could be made to fit blockland's style, but here's what they look like:

My name changes? I've never changed my name.

You're not the only modeler in this community.

no vehicles?
Nuclear Dawn doesn't have vehicles (unless they did some update or something)

Well, save for like props.
They'd be built with bricks most likley.
