Should I be worried about my laptop?

So today I turned on my laptop and it showed the windows 8 loading symbol and Acer stuff as usual but then it started making this clicking and beeping (like) sound. I immediately shut it down by holding the power button thinking it was damaging the HDD. But as you can see now it seems to be working fine. Should I be worried? Is their a way I can check all my sectors or something of that sort to check if it is damaged?

if your laptop starts making a whirring sound turn it off and replace the hard drive. if you have a dvd in your dvdplayer then you might have like a jam or something.

I had a similar thing happen before, except it was Windows 7, I turned on my laptop and it asked me which OS I wanted to use, it wasn't common for it to do that so I pressed "Windows 7", then it showed the "Starting Windows..." thing, and all of a sudden it freezes on it and starts beeping at me, no clicking though, so I pressed the power button and held it to turn it off, and when it came back on it was fine.
So your laptop might've crashed for a bit or something.
