Author Topic: YouTube forcing me to change my name?  (Read 2764 times)

Did you actually give google your real name. What.
I did when I made Google+ because there are people at my school that use it, and they would be like "Why the forget did you make a fake name"

but there are no valid reasons to complain
you just don't like change
This isn't at all true.
Obviously I'm not a popular YouTuber but for those that are, or even that have a small fan base, changing their name would mean that their fans would have a harder time finding them.
Or maybe they just don't want the world to know their real name.

Or maybe they just don't want the world to know their real name.that doesn't apply to you

We should go to the "YouTube Co. Building" and rape them to death and force them to keep our names

but that's not your problem
that doesn't even effect you
and for those who it does, I'm sure youtube has some way to deal with it, just like they always have

Pretty much what I'm asking.

i'd say that this would be more of a major problem for youtube channels with multiple people. it'd be odd to see "MonstercatMedia" change to something like "Mike Darlington," when there are like a ton of people who contribute to the channel.

obviously not a commonly known example but i couldn't really think of one

and i suppose it would be weird to see "penguinz0"'s real name.

"Monstercat Media"
and like I said I'm sure youtube can make adjustments for businesses, and the same for popular uploaders

i hate this, it's frustrating.

seriously? you don't even have to use a real name. mine is "Knight Fox" (bc apparently "Night" isn't a valid first name)

I just want to keep my username.

I'm Nalenthi on almost every site ever. 99% of the time, if you see a Nalen or Nalenthi anywhere, it's me. I'd rather not change that thanks.

That would suck for some guy whose first name was actually "Night"

Because not everyone expected youtube to make a drastic change such as becoming a Social Networking site.
So most people probably put their real name or a fake persona.
In that case if you wanted to do what you're suggesting it would require making a brand new account.
Seems like a bit of a chore yes? Especially if you have a lot of videos to re-upload.

Just because in your case it isn't a bother doesn't mean that it isn't for others.
