i've had something vaguely similar happen to me
i was watching a youtube video on my phone and there was suddenly a random voice saying something about birthdays(???) that went away after a few seconds and it wasn't coming from the video

That's probably from someone nearby using a wireless phone, it's pretty common for speakers to pick them up.

Pretty sure it's fake/the program is made that way, I don't believe non-shortwave recievers can recieve shortwave transmissions.

Also since everyone's talking about number stations, here's a collection of pretty much every single one in .mp3 format (so you can listen to them while you're going to bed)

Doesn't shortwave like travel really really far. I remember reading that it bounces off the atmosphere so it pretty much covers the world, at least when transmitted from an actual station.
