Guitar concert today

So it's the 6th week of the 2nd semester, and I'm a part of my school's guitar ensemble, which consists of roughly 20 guitar II students, and 10 guitar III students (which is an honors credit course.)

Today we have our first concert as a class of 30~ students. I'm 14th chair, so I'm not doing anything major or anything sure, and normally I'm fine in these situations, but holy stuff in 3-4 hours from now I'll be in front of almost 100 people, with roughly 35 people on stage (JazZ band will be playing with us in one song)

We'll be playing Norwegian Wood, Battle of Aughrim and a classical song called Playtime. Total time playing on stage should be about 30 minutes, and then after that the JazZ band plays for the remaining 30 minutes, making it an hour long concert.

Anyone play guitar / instruments / been on a stage for any reason other than when there was nobody there and for the giggles?

In elementary school our entire music class learned how to play the Recorder, and we played some songs at an assembly in the gym. The whole school was there, and it went really well.

I've been playing guitar for 3-4 years on and off, I can play with my eyes closed, but god damn I hate playing pentatonic.

In elementary school our entire music class learned how to play the Recorder, and we played some songs at an assembly in the gym. The whole school was there, and it went really well.

I'm pretty sure everyone who isn't from a third world country has done this in elementary school, but I guess that counts lol

I've had to go on stage for a Band concert back in 7th and 8th grade. I play guitar, but not for school. I don't think they'd appreciate 7 string guitars tuned down to drop F.

Because extended range is fun. I want an 8 string to go to drop E.

I hated presenting things in front of small classes, even when I knew everyone there. I still do, but I never had a problem playing in front of a whole auditorium when I was in band. I don't know it just didn't phase me at all. As long as you're not doing a solo or anything don't worry about it.

Just got back, it was pretty damn great. Stayed for the Jazz part too, they win like 20 awards yearly. Ill post some pics tomorrow. I do have to admit, I slipped quite a lot, but for my first time on stage I think I did pretty good.

Biggest audience for one of my sets was like 110 people
If you're getting nervous about doing that imagine having to sing too

glad that's over.

so I picked up an electric guitar a year ago to mess around with. it's more of a side thing though learning it properly would be nice.

I'm only 14th chair. This isn't like the top elite guitar students in the state, that compete in nationals. For me this was a big deal. For you, I'm sure it would be nothing.

I wasn't nervous, my palms were a little shaky for the first song, then I was fine. If anything, I was trying to calm everyone else down.
