I looked at total members and saw a account full of random characters, is this some bot or something?

It has to be. I noticed this about a week ago.

Chinese spam bots cracking the captcha.
I fear the day they learn how to pay $20.

It's probably some kind of weird programming bug for registering accounts. Maybe it's like forum member magma, and the registered users are like forum member lava?

There is software that can read some captchas.

It would be possible using optical character recognition. OCR technology isn't perfect so it would require a lot of attempts (especially with reCAPTCHA) in order to generate a positive hit.

This wouldn't out of the realm of possibility but would be relatively rare.

However, the Accounts cannot post.
Because they need a key.
How awesome is that.


As stated before, its spam bots trying to spam our forums. But badspot's greatness has caused this forum to need a key, therefore avoiding spam
