Author Topic: why do we have people like this in congress  (Read 1210 times)

Those jobs were probably not required then. I feel no sympathy for TSA screeners with double digit IQs and triple digit incomes getting laid off.

Also that is half the US population of legal working age. That number is so false.
Those double digit IQ people have a place in life too. I hate Intellectual Aristocrats.

So what I got from this is tomorrow (My birthday... not sure if I should be entertained or depressed by this) about 170 million jobs aren't going to exist anymore or something?
I don't know how to politics someone fill me in here.
The democrats don't want the sequester to happen so they are doomsday prophesising about how if we don't give the gov't more money the whole world will combust.

inb4 the rising generations finally become more voting-educated, hopefully maybe.  it's a long shot but I dream.

EDIT:  yes I am aware that this is a supreme justice, however congress isn't alone in being sketchy.

Do you know how fixed congress is? They make it so hard for contributors and fresh faces. We have something like a 16% approval rating and about a 94% re-election rate.

That is the overall Congressional approval rating. It's basically what people think of how Congress works as a whole. Individual Congressmen obviously have higher approval rates in their own districts, otherwise they wouldn't be reelected.

This is very true, but that place is not a bureaucracy where minimal work gets gross pay. We are quickly following France's footsteps in becoming one of the laziest countries.

One thing I wish is that congressmen did not make as much money. The job should be almost voluntary, so money can't be a big influence on them.

for real? and so you don't care if they and their families go hungry?
your opinion on TSA screeners is irrelevant. they are still people, who still need food.

P.S. "The yearly salary for someone with less than one year is around $29,808."

Now look at how generous their pensions are. Much higher than any private organization.

And it's not like everyone is a one trick pony, they could attempt to get jobs that do something beside making me late for my flight.

I'm sure they do
I doubt that they could possibly like dealing with stubborn, obnoxious people any more than you like dealing with them

people who work in the government are supposed to be public servants with sufficient compensation for their services

actually that was the original intention, now we have a huge income disparity between government and private jobs, and when you include all the pensions it's even worse

Then the root question is why the organization exists, right?

right on the money. Gov't jobs were originally intended to have meager pay and decent pensions, as an alternative for this who don't like market uncertainty. However it has spiraled out of that notion as of late

They're doing a fairly stuffty job I you ask me.

loving republicans. We can't get stuff done in legislation because of their stubborn and held back beliefs. Republicans are the bane of this country.

yeah, duh, that's why there have been so many terrorists hijacking planes recently
