Author Topic: Torque has 2 types of shader engines?  (Read 1526 times)

Now, before you say this is a "omg upgrad engin lps" topic. No, I simply just thought of this.
While playing Marble Blast Gold, which is made from torque, I turned shadows on. Which there was in MBG.
So I found out it seems that Marble Blast Gold, has a slightly different shader type than blockland.
Does torque use the same shading, Or are there 2 shader types?
Before you ask, Marble Blast Gold was made on the same torque engine blockland was made on, now I am not sure, but this seems true.

blockland runs on a rather heavily modified torque engine

marble blast gold probably does too

I remember reading that the stencil shadows in marble-blast were custom built into the engine.

Marble blast gold, I remember playing in primary school :)

Keep in mind that TGE comes in c++ source code, meaning you can make as many changes to it as you like.

I've heard people say it has something to with the fact that they're client-created objects?  Like.. that's why the old interiors and maps and such were shaded and had shadows while our bricks were not.

IDK, I don't know anything about any of this, that's just how I interpret what I've heard some people say about it.

Thank-you for your input, Glass.

How would that help? Aren't they just pictures. Maybe I should enable it for blockland forums from now on. I usually like giving sites that I like money.

Downloaded adblock and used it, did absolutely nothing to the images.
