Author Topic: TF2 screen is black when it starts up.  (Read 510 times)

I start up TF2 and the screen is black. I can hear music and click buttons but there is no video. What do I do?

post your console.log sounds like an issue with drivers; probably has to do with the change to windows 8

get a better gpu
seriously.

I just bought a new loving computer and I didn't have this issue with my older windows xp model.

I'm not trying to be mean, but its either the drivers or your GPU, what was your old computers GPU? Just because your current computer is on a better OS doesn't mean its a better computer.

Well it so far runs better than my stuffty windows xp that took 5 loving minutes to warm up, additional 5 minutes to start up and laggy gameplay. I'm looking around and it seems like this black screen issue is a bug on valve's part.

I doubt it is valves part, if you want more help and possibly a answer we will probably need your specs, I'm not sure how to access specs on Windows 8 though.

I am almost 70% sure that it's your drivers' fault. Do something relating to them.

Well I downloaded Drivermax. Bunch of stuff I need to update including my graphics card.

You can try putting -dxlevel 80 in the launch options.
