According to the original owner of the computer, he stated that it specifically WAS the way Vista reacts to large amounts of memory.

but that dosnt make sense. because vista (just like win7) has a 32 and 64bit version.

32bit's use up to 3.4gigs, and 64bit uses up to 128gigs.
its just a staple of picking a version of windows.

if you KNOW its ram issues because the blue screen implies so, then maybe you are using 2 different brands/incompatible sticks to each other.

or the ram itself is just shot. like harddrives, ram can just stuff out one day. its one of the most common computer parts to just die (or one day be forgeted up and cause crashed) suddenly.

The computer was given to me with four RAM-sticks total. They're all of the same brand and are practically carbon copies of each other.

I guess the only way to find out is to try.

So at this point, should I pop the other two sticks in and throw caution to the wind, or should I put one in at a time and pray it stays stable?

put one in at a time and pray it stays stable
do this.

cuz even a single bad stick can cause errors or crashes. and not always predictable. sometimes it will only take effect when watching a youtube vid, or 20 minutes into a game.

you could run a memtest, but its faster to just try out the hardware swapping lol

Okay then.

Which one do you all think... isn't broken?

it's difficult to tell from a blurry picture of the protective bits that have pretty much nothing to do with the actual RAM.

you're so silly.

Well, I was kind of just hoping I'd get a bunch of different opinions.

And it's not like I have a fancy camera.

So... top or bottom?

stop being dumb and put one in and see if you get any bluescreens

Damn, and I thought Off Topic was being nice today.

Alright, I'm doing it.

DON'T DO IT YOU'LL ALTER TIME AS WE KNOW IT

Oh no, it's too late!

I did it.

Nothing horrible has happened so far. It showed up on the System overview.

You people are really presumptuous...

At least change the title.
