Author Topic: Lag Problems  (Read 1787 times)

A few things. You said you don't lag in any other games, so I assume there's a problem with Blockland. Do you lag in ANYTHING else?
When you lag how much CPU are you using, memory, anything else that might be important?
Do you lag in single player under the same settings that you experience in multiplayer?

I am not sure, people did say they get stuffty fps in some servers.
It seems to be a problem with blockland, all my games on steam are good.

The thing is, I don't get this problem, and same with a lot of other people. So it's something with BL and your computer.
Can you answer the question about single player versus multiplayer though?
You said you're not getting the lag icon so I assume its something clientsided and nothing internet related. Figure out how to reproduce the lag in singleplayer with everything as you have it now and then try the same thing with all default mods. Perhaps you can isolate the cause?

Better yet, do another install of BL and see if it lags in situation you created in single player. If it doesn't you know its a mod. The thing that Badspot has said before is that his game is perfect (which can be argued either way) but the mods you download mess it up (which is true).

If its just a BL issue and it works fine on a clean install its a mod that you have or something you've downloaded. If not then there's something that BL conflicts with on your computer.

I can't reproduce the lag I get in single player, I'll try.
I do have 8GB of ram and I heard bricks depend on ram.

I can't recreate the stuff I get in single player, I should note that I have 8x AA forced and 8x anisotropic.

Yes, and GPU for rendering, CPU for physics and other random calculations. The game relies on everything like all games do. From what you're telling me though, its not just bricks, it could be anything. You had shaders enabled, it could be those. You were on a multiplayer server, it could be that. You said there were vehicles, it could be that. You have mods installed, it could be those. There are literally tons of things and Im just trying to widdle down to the root cause.

If you can't figure out what's making you lag, there's really no way I try and fix it.

Then try disabling those and see if it makes a difference. Turning off anything that has changed the game from a default installations helps identify the cause.
Even so, a clean install in another location is even better because the above part doesn't diagnose things modified in the game itself. This includes anything in your cache.db, your config folders, your base folders, etc

EDIT: If you cannot recreate it in single player, figure out how to recreate it in multiplayer and start disabling stuff till the lag goes away. From what it sounds like though, its just some servers, and if other people are complaining, maybe its a problem with the server and nothing you can fix?

The server I am mentioning, has 10000 bricks, I am going to Badspots Bot Party, which has 40k or 40000 bricks.
So I am going to see if there is a difference.

Definitely not shaders or bricks, i got 60-80 FPS at badspot's server
Going to disable AA to see if that makes a difference.

Back, got about the same framerate except 10 fps more at times.
I heard you can force Vsync onto BL. Should I?
So definitely not Bricks or Shaders.

Try removing all add-ons and see if the problem continues.

There are no addons except RTB.

No, this fixes screen tearing which you don't have.

Well then it seems to be a problem with just that server. I don't see what the issue is now. If everyone else on that server complained of low framerate then its just a poorly configured server. Seeing as there are no mods to make this happen, bricks and shaders arent causing it, singleplayer works fine, Badspot's Bot Party works fine (it isn't multiplayer or internet related), you're not overusing computer resources, I don't see as there is anything more that can be checked?

Don't bother. V-Sync limits the FPS at 30 and Blockland looks choppy if your FPS is not over let's say 100 FPS.

Nobody did say they got low FPS.
Anyway does anyone else here get low FPS on certain servers?

Also like to note, should I get revo uninstaller?
