You act like assumptions can never be used in an argument.
most of the time they can't. especially in the situations you use them in. if you want to win an argument (prove you're correct) show your opponent hard data, not just generalizations or assumptions. especially in response to a direct point such as "what if he needs it for school or work?" because responding to something like this with an assumption makes your side of the argument weak because it lacks evidence or any sort of data that you can argue back with to effectively counter that point.
I hope you message me a few days later to just tell me assumptions are bad again.

And saying he could use the library at school isn't irrelevant. If he needs the internet for school he can use the internet at school.
it's irrelevant because it's just a weak possibility that's so circumstantial it's not even funny.
what if he doesn't live at the school and he needs to write a report?
what if the library isn't open when he needs to use a computer?
what if it's a low income school and is lacking any public use computers at all?
etc.
