Author Topic: Help with shaders?  (Read 541 times)

I'm sure dozens of people probably post about this but i'm just curious. I cannot run shaders above minimum on my computer. Anything above minimum puts fat lines across surfaces. Now this could just be related to the fact that i'm playing on a Mac. But to be safe, here's my video card. ATI Radeon HD 4850 Can anyone explain this to me?

The best explanation I can give is that they simply don't work on your card and to just keep them on minimum, sorry.

Thank you for your input. I'm hoping it's not just my card, because I rarely run across anyone that is able to use shaders above minimum. By the way, the iMac 27 is a great computer when it comes to running graphics on any game. (So i'm seeing from my own experience) That's the reason i'm looking to any other possibility than it being the card.

It is most likely a card compatibility issue. Do Macs have drivers? I don't know, I've never had one. If they do though, make sure your drivers are up-to-date.

This has nothing to do with your video card being incompatible with anything, this has been an issue with OS X for quite a while now.
One of the only solutions is to use Wine, or Bootcamp (I think, not entirely sure.)

Your card is actually really good for the time it was made/compared to some low end cards today. The problem is Blockland on Mac. I'm not sure if its a Mac problem or a Blockland problem but maybe both, I expierenced the same problem you do on a 2011 Mac book pro (AMD 6000 series graphics card) and I get the lines on everything also.

There's currently no way of fixing this, you can try maybe getting Badspot's attention by making a forum/poll and having people vote on a poll that want it fixed. If a lot of people vote Badspot will probably attempt to look into it, it's better than nothing.
