Author Topic: Can't join friend's server.  (Read 3508 times)

I can join every other sever but my friend's.  It just loads datablocks halfway and then crashes my Blockland.  I have tried a fresh install of Blockland but it does not work.  Other people can join his server, but it seems I am the only one who can't. Help!

Well, it seems no one else can join his server either :/. We will try uninstalling all addons and make it a vanilla server but I don't know what to do after that if it doesn't work.

He probably failed to forward his ports for Blockland.

Either that, or he has a dynamic IP address

Tell your friend to go into his Blockland folder and delete the file called cache.db.

nope, he can connect so this is not the problem.

You`re saying a host cannot connect to his own IP that he is using?
invalid.

No, you're really not sure what you're talking about. The OP says that he gets halfway through loading datablocks, which means that he was able to connect to the server. It's not a port forwarding problem.

I know what I`m talking about. I hosted a server before without forwarding ports with a dynamic IP, and it is possible for someone to connect to it.

Thanks for all your help, we finally got it working. Turns out it was a problem with some addons not allowing people to join the server.

Could you perhaps list the addons uninstalled for future reference?

And where exactly is the problem here?

No, you don't. If the issue had to do with port-forwarding, he would not have been able to connect in the first place. If it really was an issue with a dynamic IP address, then that would be extremely unusual because even with a dynamic IP address your address should not change every couple minutes; it should be more in a range of days. You could host without port-forwarding and with a dynamic IP address because the UpnP worked for you, which is not always the case for everyone.
