Because gay people don't know what racism or discrimination is and try to sue you if you make fun of them as just people.

When people assume you're straight and you're not, it skews everything. One would have to explain it all the time, or end up talking to someone they could love for the rest of their life and not realize it because they're both hiding.

It can be a fundamentally important difference, and some people can't stand to keep it hidden.

Straight people men don't need to broadcast that they want women (but they often obnoxiously do) because that's typical human nature and can be assumed.



This isn't the '60s. The best advice is not to just keep it hidden no matter what.
