Author Topic: Uber budget Computer (No laptops!)  (Read 1048 times)

well that's just too bad
they don't have some monopoly on computer threads

and it's not like people actually pay attention to all the posts

Seriously this. If you ask something on topic in any megathread, out of 10 pages you'll get one reply and the rest will be people who are arguing/ignore you.

OP you could definitely scrape by if your sister is really keen on a desktop, but you can also get a laptop as previously stated. If that's all she's doing, then there is no cons to getting one what-so-ever. The usual cons of getting a laptop is it's power, but she clearly doesn't need that much. Plus it's mobile, soooo yeah.

Try to convince her

Since you think this is a terrible PC, (especially the GPU it seems), What configuration would've you guys recommended?

Remember I need photoshop cs6 and elements 11 to run.

I dunno man, i dunno. would i get the same or better preformance for the same price? And my sister doesn't see portability as a factor in choosing a computer because she doesn't need it yet.

Also, what are your views on the CPU? How much better is it than a dual core and how much worse than an i3-i5?

I have to move between my dad's and mom's pretty often, so a laptop has proven like, super great for me
don't think you have that thing, though
idk about your sister, but being able to sit wherever in your house, in whatever chair, is really appealing to me, too

why the hell do you need a 750 watt psu? GT 610 takes about 400.

Please take time to read the OP thoroughly. He states he already has that component and others. It could be possible that it's from his last desktop that doesn't work any more so he scavenged it for parts, or he just has them lying around.

He's making due with what he has, he's not going to shell out more money for a lower watt PSU just because.

So any suggestions? I'm still not convinced I have the right list since all you guys did was argue about why i have a 750 watt PSU and how i should get a laptop, and how my GPU is terrible (Compared to what?! Your Battlefield 3 ultra graphics rig?). I already stated that I do NOT want a laptop, UNLESS you can find one with better specs for the same money. One major thing i am worried about is the GPU. My dad thinks that it should run fine, although I really am doubting it's performance, especially for a resource diminishing program like elements 11 or 9. My sister already complains that editing RAW files is laggy, so would this solve the problem?

To the people who actually suggested things, thanks.

if thats all she does with it, then she dosnt need a desktop lol.
in fact she can just get a tablet netbook or something for 500 bucks.

i cant stand this current generation of computer "users" that everything they do on a computer can be done on their crappy cell phones. yet they think they need a comp or ipad or something.
a real desktop is basically for advanced users or gamers only these days.

My sister uses Photoshop and plays sims 3 regularly.
She does not want a laptop.
I am asking you whether the specifications above will be good enough for these tasks.
That is all I am asking. I do not give a single bloody stuff whether a laptop would be better, or if desktops are for advanced users only, or if my GPU is a pile of stuff compared to your Geforce TITAN.

How hard is it to answer a bloody question without sidetracking?

This is turning into Lord Tony's topic. Either way my dad has already ordered the parts, except changing the GPU to a
KFA2 GeForce GT 640 1GB GDDR3 which is £50.

good idea

almost any (new) laptop can handle sims 3

i thin this entire topic is you shopping for yourself.

don't worry dude, my compie has integrated intel hd x4500 and I can play sims 3 on full and I tried photoshop on it too, it works great. My grandma's computer has a GeForce GT 610 and can play most of my games just fine.

If what you stated is all you want to do, then you'll be fine-off.

If 3 months down the road she turns into an avid gamer, the only thing you'll be able to reuse is the PSU.

yeah this.
