Author Topic: Is 81 degrees Celsius a bad temperature for a GPU to be at?  (Read 12985 times)

So, I was mining for bitcoins, and I opened MSI Afterburner to check my temperature. My computer was extremely hot and I needed to check if it was alright.

Um, it was at 81*C. That's the highest temperature I have ever seen from it.

But, is it bad to be at that temperature? Is that truly dangerous?

Uhm...
Uhm...

You should be concerned.
Very concerned.

For real?

Oh god, just exited out of BitMinter.

Went down to 47 degrees.

For real?

Oh god, just exited out of BitMinter.

Went down to 47 degrees.
If it goes any higher it could probably have a melt down, or it could actually catch fire.

You should open it up and clean it up, may be dust.

Wait, uh
Celsius? Oh dear lord, that's like 180 degrees.

If you're not using a laptop, I'd suggest getting a different heatsink or other cooling device.

Water.
Water everywhere.
Take something cold, and use it to cool the GPU when you're mining.

also did you overclock it.

Did you overclock your device?
overclocking does that you know.

even if he did or didn't, he's bit coin mining (lol).

Of course his computer is going to explode unless it has 1000 fans or has a liquid cooling kit composed of liquid hydrogen

I'm on a notebook with no overclocking. I'm just asking to be careful.

Notebooks and Laptops probably should never be used for mining because of they're poorly designed cooling systems.

Yes, OP, that is very bad.

i hope that the part where he said it was 81 C was an error and he really meant 81 F.

Considering your using a notebook, those aren't designed for gaming at all.
It may run but their designed for light things not hardcore gaming.

You should get a cooling system.
