I'm still not interested in anymore half lives. The first one was amazing, the second one is just for the casual gamer.

How was the second one dumbed down for kiddies? I found it quite difficult at times.

However, Half-Life 3 will probably never be made. Some of the voice actors from earlier games have died and so on. We should just stop getting excited over Half-Life 3 and stop hyping it over and over again. If we stop getting excited over the game, when it perhaps probably not but maybe still someday comes out it won't seem like "not worth the weight" after not being able to bypass all the hype.

Eeeeh, the thing is that Gearbox guys wanted to be able to invent their own alien race (in this case the Race X) to have more freedom to work with their own particular style, and Valve probably wouldn't go using that.
