Author Topic: how to become better at writing?  (Read 699 times)

I possess a great, GREAT (at least I think) idea for a story/novel/short-story/comic-book in my head that has been bubbling around in my head since about August 2012. I have tried starting to write this story that has been in my head and it just does not work out correctly. I think my problem here is that I just suck at writing and need some tips from people that actually have the capability to write in proper sentences  and formulate characters properly while not just throwing around random facts in the story.

Any help?

Read great novels, books, etc.
Take notes on those authors.

or study shakesphere.

Ive recently become better at writing but I am not that good at all.

:C

Post the story on something like deviantart and let us give you some constructive criticism

Do you honestly need help? Writing weaboo fanfics can't be that hard.

You could try practicing writing.

what I do when I think of things I'd like to write
is I like
write down a bunch of notes about the ideas I have about it
if I decide to actually write about it, later, then I'll do that, and work on it over time to make it look and sound good
but usually writing down the ideas gets it off my mind

imo it's even harder when you're only writing one half and the other person is writing the other half and you both have to do it at like the same time, oh man oh man

I was going to write one in this reply, but I am tired.

It is, if George R.R. Martin is any indication (his are terrible).

Read a lot, write a lot, get a lot of feedback.
