What?
Is there absolutely no other reason to want terrain other than disliking change?

There are reasons to like terrain and everyone ignores them.

You know that's just a joke image right?

So A not properly aligned to brick grid city, another one, and an ugly river?
Look, they're not the best. Sure, maybe they're ugly. But they're fun to explore.

When maps (Terrain) did exist, it wouldn't lag as much in brick count and it looked nice. But now it's all bricks... and flat.

fort wars that aren't islands, being able to make mountain ranges that look like mountains without them being cuby and horrible, not having to build all of the loving terrain. As someone who prefers building terrain over having it, i do have to note that nobody in their right mind is going to build proper terrain for a fort wars server that isn't a bunch of stuffty, plain islands or some kind of boring mountain surrounded by flat hills or something. There are a few ways to make great terrain but they take 30 minutes to make a single 64x64 area, and it would take ages to create a fort wars map that can actually support a bunch of factions. Even if you did take the time you would already have cut 50% of the playerbase since they would be lagging like stuff due to the brick count, even if you did skimp on brick count like making everything hollow.

It's a trade-off that you have to deal with.

Imagine an alternate Blockland game, available to anyone w/ a key, that didn't have shaders 'n stuff, but terrain/interiors. Then we could send them there to escape the spam.

GSF's maps were my favorite maps. I loved terrain and I drive around in my FROG Tank Battlefield whenever i'd get bored. I'd play ZAPT in the Kitchen fridge, Pecon7's boss battles in the Bedroom. HITNOKAT, Random Players and I would race Pandan's Raceway map with side-car motorbikes.

At first when shaders came out, I could run them on low and still be satisfied with the Shaders. After a revision or two, my GC wasn't compatible with Shaders anymore, so there was really no reason to play anymore. The servers sucked, no maps, HK, and a few other friends left the game. The servers are fine nowadays, but I still miss terrain for nostalgic reasons, and for the fact they made this game Blockland.

You were a lego figure, in a Bedroom, building all sorts of creations and battling each other for no reason. Flying planes in the Kitchen, CTF in the backyard, and finding the Golden Brick in Construct. Sure, the some maps may have been low quality, but most of them were well executed. Shaders and Terrain are compatible to an extent, but Terrain is/was holding back the progress, plus the Devs didn't care for it. In the future, there may be a way to fix this, but until then Terrain generators are your friends.

Another player-made copy of v20 would be cool.

oh god lol didn't think you were actually being serious.
