I just came back from there with my Boy Scout troop.
4 hour ride there and back from New Jersey. But it was worth it to stay overnight.

I saw the White House,
Capitol Hill
Washington Monument
Lincoln Memorial
Reflecting Pool
Vietnam War Memorial
MLK Memorial
Arlington Cemetary
and a few other places...
No lie, I saw two people loving inside an apartment with the window open

Discuss Washington D.C and stuff...

Also, we slept in Maryland with some guy that's friends with our Troop Leader. He's pretty cool. we had 2 creep vans to drive in. The red one was the "party bus". Mine was the "boring bus". But it was fun...

Also, we ate some good Chinese food in Chinatown. One of my fortune cookies said this:

I went there to march in the 100th anniversary parade.

It was alright.

I love D.C.
the memorials and stuff are cool
the WWII memorial is one of the coolest imo, might that have been one of the "few other places?"
the cemetery is also very cool. I've got an irrational soft spot for the military, so when I noticed a funeral was going on somewhere, with the guns and all, I almost cried ;~;

but as cool as all of these things are
the less-famous parts of the city (that is, the parts where people actually live and do daily things) are way cooler
but it doesn't even come close to NYC
I've only been there once, and it was only for a couple of days, but I absolutely fell in love with that place

and I've been to D.C. twice, for a total of about a full week
