Author Topic: Looking for a graphics card that is decent and kinda cheap  (Read 3129 times)

Didn't post this in the Computer megathread cause people hardly respond to you.

Anyways, I've finally decided to pick out some computer parts and get them on my birthday (in 6 months lol, or I'll just save up and have all the money I need within literally 2 months), just because my laptop wasn't made for gaming, and I've put it through enough abuse :D

Okay so now, my mom has 2 computers lying around 1 for my brother and 1 for me, both of them are pretty good Processor and RAM wise. They both need to get rid of the gay Intel graphics.

So me and my bro are looking for DECENT and kinda CHEAP graphics cards.

No Radeon HD 7770 (Even though I want it so bad.) Just something that can run BL medium shader / shadows with maybe 30 fps.

What I was thinking of:

NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS

GT 220

-

Please keep them around $80. If they're excellent and they're around $100. Then post. I won't buy anything higher than $110 probably.

And don't say "omg u cant by grapihcs cards 4 under 100 $$$!!!! get a job"

I'm not looking for something that can play Far Cry 3 ultra settings.

Here's what I would like to play:

Far Cry 2 Low - Medium Settings Decent FPS

Blockland Low - Medium Settings ~30k bricks Decent FPS

Portal 2 Medium - High Settings Decent FPS

Metro 2033 - Low settings Decent FPS

(BIG MAYBE) Far Cry 3 Low settings Decent FPS
-

So yeah, those types of games.

Of course, me getting a new graphics card will allow me to play most games on low with around 30-40 fps.

Also remember, when I mean DECENT FPS, I mean FPS that is playable. 15-20. If higher than yeahhh

Thanks in advance :)

Work your way down from the most expensive ones.

Work your way up from the least expensive ones.

The definition of 'cheap' varies from person to person. It would be nice to know what your budget is or the maximum and minimum you can spend.

I really need to read the OP more carefully.

He wants them to be around $80 and does not want to spend more than $110 on one.

Lol.

I just revisited this topic and just now saw what he was willing to spend. Sorry.

Radeon 7750
It even comes with Far Cry 3 for a limited time, so buy now. It could run it on low around 80FPS, so I think it'll suit you.

Whatever, 2GB isn't needed, anyway.

I would go for the AMD 6670, the GDDR3 version by Sapphire is $65. If you want to (and I suggest this) I would step up for the GDDR5 version of the card for $80-$85. Some good brands on the cards are HIS, Sapphire and MSI, get which one seems better and make sure that it will fit in your case. You can look up the cards on newegg.

OT: look at some of the cards in the gtx 500 series. they might work.
