Author Topic: Took apart and put back together a computer for the first time.  (Read 1429 times)

So about 2-3 hours or so ago I decided to take a computer from my parents closet that was really old, (wasn't usable) and take it apart and put back together, it was pretty fun.
Heres what I could make out from the specs:
Windows XP 32-bit
Intel Pentium 4 (had thermo grease on it so wiped off with a paper towel)
after wiping off thermo grease it said clearly on it "Intel Pentium 4 1.5 Ghz.
2 Ram sticks which seemed to be 512 mb each.
60 gigs of harddrive space.
It was pretty fun putting it back together because I had to put all the cords back, ect.
Not sure how many watts the power supply was though.
/discuss if you ever took apart a old pc and put it back together, idk.

Dont turn it on because theres no more thermo paste on the CPU. You could burn it out.

Dammit

Dont turn it on because theres no more thermo paste on the CPU. You could burn it out.
Once again, the computer didn't work.

What?
Anyway, the computer was a HP Pavillion 500.
It was insane to get the mother board out.
The Micro-Processor was tiny.
