Author Topic: Help with buying a drumset  (Read 222 times)

So I've been looking to get a drum set for quite some time now and I finally found a used Yamaha Rydeen set with a high hat stand for $330 and I was going to check it out this weekend and possible purchase it. While my dad wants be to buy one of those table top drum sets, yeah the one that's looks like a kids toy. I told him it wouldn't be the same, that I want acoustic and I don't want to buy that table top one and then buy and acoustic later. While he keeps saying that his guy told him I should get the table top one so I can learn the basics, but I've been practicing the "basics" with my band teacher at school on our acoustic drum set.

So which should I buy? How do I convince my dad to just let me buy the acoustic set?

If you truely enjoy the drums, get a standard kit ( 2 toms, floor tom, bass drum, snare, a high hat, and a ride cymbal. Basically a rock band set up). It's more encouraging to practice on something real rather than a table top. If I bang on the drums all day I would rather use my set than a table top.
