Author Topic: Getting a MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch, but shaders?  (Read 3102 times)

Ok. I am getting a new laptop. MacBook Pro Retina. 15-inch.

Probably the best MacBook that came out so far in Apple history. However, I need to think first before buying it.

Can it run shaders?

Please help.

Why waste so much money on a mac, macs aren't designed for gaming. Buy a cheaper PC or build your own computer.

Yes.
Probably fairly well too.

Mac's cant run shaders, their intel graphics chip is crap.
Scratch that, Mac simply can't run shaders due to no support.

Guys, please stop trying to discourage him from buying a Mac.

A macbook pro can only run minium
worse, you have to use minium or else it looks like stuff

atleast it is better than my toaster

Don't get a Mac, if you plan on gaming, its an absolute waste.

In fact you could probably get a better gaming laptop, but......

 DONT EVER BUY ALIENWARE

Ever, their stuff is extremely defective and sometimes right out of the box it will be broken.

Macs are not customizeable so what you buy is what you get and shaders will not run well on it

Well, thats not true.

You have some options when buying a Mac, buts thats only available in digital order.

I have a Retina MacBook Pro 15" and its amazing. I love it. But, Macs in general cannot run shaders due to no support. I believe the developers of Blockland tried a few times, but they don't have Macs so they just gave up on trying.

Macs are not made for gaming. sorry.
I would have one if It did.

One thing everyone who always bashes on Mac for not being gaming computers needs to think is that sometimes we dont want a computer just for gaming ;P

Although its true, they're not made for gaming.

People bash macs so much, but I still have yet to see a good windows laptop.

If I were you, I would steer clear of the retina macs, there's not much of a benefit, seeing as text is really the only thing being improved.  Also games don't run as fast due to the resolution.
