Author Topic: A little criticism directed at the BF3 Weaponset  (Read 1525 times)

Before you say BF3 Pack is dead, keep in mind it's not finished, and idk if Walther will finish it.
Okay, this is totally directed at you, Sgt A Walther, just some ideas for your next project (if you're going to make another one).

1. The Idea

I'm not going to complain about the weapons being generic and other stuff because I also make generic weaponsets (but that's going to change).
The thing is, you're trying to bring another game into Blockland, and that I might assume it's a lack of creativity, and second, you should at least do it correctly, ffs.
The weapons mechanics don't work like they should in BF3, BF3 is somewhat medium paced, but your weapons damage are extremely high, turning it into a fast paced game, something like COD.

2. Weapons Mechanics

SVD x G18

That's all I need to say that the weapons mechanics are terrible and should be tweaked ASAP.
I mean a pistol is able to overpower a sniper rifle, seriously. Fix the weapon's mechanics so they give the user a feeling of bf3, currently the only thing that might remind you it's BF3 is the weapon's names, maybe not even the weapon's themselves.
I could recommend using Rykuta's Base, which is very well polished and very easy to mess with, I assume you're using T+T's base, not gonna say it's bad but it doesn't fit the playstyle you're looking for.
Almost forgot, reloading shotguns is a pain in the ass.

3. Models

I'm a modeler myself so I guess I'll be a bit more of a cold critic here..
They do not fit the blockhead, I'm not even talking about the hands, I'm talking about everything.

So yeah, clipping, awkward lighting, glad you fixed these problems on most weapons but they some still have it.
And as well for the hands, I used to have a thick issue with these, but as well you get used to it, I think it would look better if you kept them only first person. It's an easy trick done with LODS, and it will look 10 times better.
Also, you should change the weapon's colors, most of them are pitch black. Everyone knows the AK-74M should have some wood on it, be a little green, like in game. But here you just threw a black on it, and it looks extremely ugly, it only reminds you of an ak-74 because of it's format.

Just an idea for your weaponset, Walther. Currently these are very low quality, and they're only used because of custom animations it has, not because of the playstyle. Also it's not even complete, I think the biggest trouble with copying other games is that their creators keep updating it.

Oh well, I know you have a great potential Walther, so listen to what me and alot of people have said and make your weapon pack one of the best in Blockland's history!

Chances are he wont listen to you however.

I always liked BF3 better than T+T and H&K. I didn't know people criticized it.

Read what khain posted and you would know :(

Then how do you not know why people criticize it?

Read a little more carefully.

Ravencroft, are you blind? Take a quick look at the weapons, they contain a huge poly count, a pistol is stronger than a rifle, and the hands are unrealistically posed.

What is good about this pack?

Also nice job on the topic Khain.

I always liked it. We have different opinions.

so you like a clearly unfinished product, with horrible scripting, ugly models, horrible damage scaling and balancing issues, and weapon models that are longer than 3 blockheads?

The weapon pack is bad, but that video is not a fair comparison. With the rifle, he doesn't take the time to aim, and even fires when the crosshair is no where near the bot.

just noticed, should i remove it?

Still,
THE G18 had so much spread over that whole distance that it seemed like it only took two bullets to kill the bot, whereas the sniper rifle took two shots as well. And don't forget that after you fire, your aim gets forgeted up, It's not just him swaying back and forth it's the correction he's making because the gun throws his aim off.

A pistol shouldn't even be able to fire that fast, nor that far anyways.
