Author Topic: Evented Chess Set (with bots)  (Read 961 times)

My latest blockland creation, an evented chess set. I tried this earlier, but didn't have the motivation to finish. So i made myself do it again.

Features
  • Numbered/Lettered Checkered Board
  • Voice controlled
  • Bots
  • Move display

Gameplay

First you click a button...

...and get conformation.

Then you say the coordinates in chat,

Click your piece,

And it will go there.

What's this? The enemy was stupid enough to move diagonally to your pawn?

Take him down.

Flaws

This is NOT computer chess (well it is in a way). I mean that the pieces are not forced to move exactly like they do in real life. (Maybe i'll find the motivation to do that later)

You could have a bunch of pieces on one square.
You might even kill your own pieces.

It's up to you to play right and find someone who will play along.

It's pretty glitchy and takes some getting use to, but it's chess. Enjoy.

-Requires VCE-
-And bots-
-And default bricks-
-Also you need an active blockland account-
-Also you need a computer-
-Also, don't eat the yellow snow-
-And the cake is a lie-

(Feel free to rate, but please no hate comments or anything about how you could do better)

this is badass.
i love the way you made each chess piece look.
how exactly does one piece kill another? is it just that when one piece moves into another, the first one dies?
and are pieces restricted to moving to only the spots they are allowed to move?

Don't think so.
Looks awesome though, nice work.

This looks awesome, you should have some tennis chess matches

tennis wat

Nice. Im never surprised by what you can make...

I think I came to this server yesterday while it was not completed (I might be mistaking you for someone else though).

This looks interesting.

Yes, it does kill any peice that is touching the square that you want it to go, which is why you can kill your own pieces.

And the pieces do not have move restrictions.

i beg to differ; the cake was never a lie.

anyways, I'd prefer it if you rescaled the bots to make it more prominent whos what. Like the king and the queen are the biggest pieces, the rooks taller, and the pawns smaller. The Knights could also be horse spawns instead.

I'd be nice if you made a version where you just click the bot then click the square for it to move to and itll go there.

That would be hard to do, but possible. I can only imagine how much VCE would have to be used though.

Good idea about the sizes.
I already tried using horses, the bots would keep mounting them...

Also I can't do the square thing because you can't manipulate bot movement with named_bricks.
