Now go smack it with sticks to your hearts content. Just like millions of other people around the world.

I have to ask myself why people take such an interest in playing music, as opposed to just being a listener? Perhaps you aspire to be a musician? Or maybe just as a hobby? Whatever the case I always find myself surrounded by these kind of people.

Calm down man, let it drop. I'm sure he'll explain it later.
how can I get any more calm?
because I thought you were jokin with "what are you going to do with them"
Well I'm going to practice and play on them and work on cover for songs
I personally read his "I don't know" comment as a joke. Because what other use would a drum kit have other than playing it?
ok definitely that's a good point. I should have asked the question better. what I was asking, was what specifically he was going to play them for, but I didn't make that clear, so it was my mistake. but he already answered, so nvm

because they like it? I like playing a saxophone in my school's band. but I don't intend to make a career out of it. what is wrong with liking to play music? it's a lot more fun than listening

Love to physically make music especially by tapping and such. At my old school my foot tapping got so bad that my teacher bought me my own little mini rug that I could tap on. I love listening to music and I love the drums

Its like asking why do you draw tesla

Billy loves the electric guitar and so does the rest of his friends

Robby likes the drums too

And Sheila likes to sing

Is there a subtle calling in music that motivates the average young persons mind to make them think they can make something for themselves from music? Given that its one of the largest industries in the world, music must have something too it that makes it such a cultural thing no matter who you are.

I'm not bashing on you for your drums, I'm happy for you. But I always find myself asking whether theres someting significant behind peoples tendency to buy an instrument and through random chance go nowhere or somewhere with it.

I don't think he's trying to hit it big, which you don't seem to understand. I think he just finds it fun.

I do not understand this 'fun' you speak of.
I don't think he's trying to hit it big, which you don't seem to understand. I think he just finds it fun.
Which is why I subtly asked him if he's doing it as a hobby or thinking about going somewhere with it. Which you appear to have missed. I got my answer, but it doesn't mean I can't continue to probe.

like slayer said, why do you draw, tesla?

As a hobby. Are you going somewhere with this? Because I think you're about to try and convince me of something that I'm already convinced of.

some forgetin metal gear solid ass philosophy lol

"Snake, why do you fight? Do you just love killing, or do you do it for honor?"

ok, as a hobby. that's why many people play music. where are you going with all your questions?

i play music because i love killing

I'm convinced the attraction to music might be instinctual. That somehow the art stimulates a certain center of your mind that entices to pull you into the thrall of the entire deal. It would be an interesting thing to get into research on actually. I always think there's a basis reason for why so many people like particular things. I don't think it to be irrational, which you mostly seem to think I'm trying to express. Nothing more. I find it to be a curiosity.

I think Tesla's trying to say that there's something just basically human about music that we can all connect to.

idk, I think the metaphorical friction over different types of music do a really good job of causing arguments
but ya I'd say there's definitely something special about music, since everyone's been doing it for like ever
