I can only really go to $400. I also already have 8GB of compatible ram.

Please no "integrated graphics sucks balls lololol" bullstuff, unless you can point me to a better option.

I suppose it's not bad, but it's defiantly not good. I would strive to get something that has a better processor than an i3. I bet you could do better on ebay or craigslist.

I was thinking this too but I haven't seen many good refurbs lately.

It's pretty good for the price.

If you're going to be walking around with a laptop this would probably be a better option. 14 inches is a ton easier to deal with.

owning a 15.6" laptop previously I can say this is a little true, but I would replace that os before I booted it.

Also I am planning on upgrading it to an SSD so I don't need a kickass hard drive.

Most laptops allow you to swap out the Optical Drive for another Hard Drive bay, why not have both?

My god, that is amazing. You need an adapter though.

im fairly sure thinkpads can have their optical drives swapped out for numpad extensions.

My family has gotten three computers from cedarpc.com. You could probably find a good deal there, too.

Not sure why you'd want to do that, there are plenty of external numpads out there.
