Author Topic: People are mad because the Google doodle is about Cesar Chavez and not Easter  (Read 4138 times)

they prefer a real individual over your imaginary friend.  Get over it.

Whether or not it mattered to him so much if they didn't do an Easter logo, this is just being an starfish :/

Really?  As far as I'm concerned, it's the truth.  If these asswads can bitch piss and moan about their religious preferences not being followed, I can combat their stupidity with insult.

Today's Easter?
yes and apparently Jesus died on easter...

yes and apparently Jesus died on easter...

I thought he was resurrected on easter...

I just noticed that Kearn edits his last post instead of posting a new post like a normal person. And I then realized that he is attempting to be intelligent and trying to take "the high road", redefining himself as the supposedly superior adult in this situation. Though this is the same person who called Cesar Chavez a jerk and a nut.

I am not bending your words Kearn, you just haven't learned how to get your point across without sounding like a whiny child, though I doubt coherence would help you anyway. I have simply run with statements that you have said, though it seems like you are fond of going back and editing, so who knows whether or not they still exist.

You seem to fail to grasp why Cesar Chavez is actually relevant to a religious holiday, though for a long time Easter had nothing to do with Christianity. Cesar Chavez stood up for those suffering around him. He saw how the farm owners were treating his fellow humans like slaves. He stood up for them and helped the farm workers realize that they deserve fair treatment. There is an obvious connection, not necessarily to Easter, but to a general narrative Christianity likes to state. Though you think he is a "nut", the actions of Cesar Chavez embody a spirit Christianity is proud of.

Oh also, he was most likely a devout Catholic.

I thought he was resurrected on easter...
thats what I thought

because he was

he died on good friday

there is no point in making a thread 15 pages longer than it needs to be

i don't edit my posts out you dummy, everything i said is still here

i have fully explained my reason why i think they should've given easter precedence and you were basically the first person to give a coherent response aside from "stop pushing religion/you're dumb/chavez was more important so as such he gets it" etc

easter has been celebrated since around the second century AD as a christian holiday, hardly a long time

ok cool he wanted even more rights for people doesnt mean animal rights and fasting for attention arent nutty

Really?  As far as I'm concerned, it's the truth.

This isn't some convoluted tunnel vision argument where I'm mad at you because you were right, you were a douchebag for no good reason.

Kearn stated that he's not rubbed the wrong way by it because he's religious, but because it didn't make any sense to him as to why they'd pick Cesar Chavez over Easter.

So you've made yourself look like an idiot, too.

Easter is just the most recent incarnation of ancient pagan holidays celebrating the coming of Spring, Christmas is also a repackaged Roman holiday celebrating the winter solstice. Neither of these holidays are originally Christian, and any theology student would tell you so.

Don't tell me how fasting is nutty when it's been done for thousands of years and actually plays a major part in Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. If you cannot make the connection between Cesar Chavez and Christianity, that's your own damn fault. I suspect that I, an atheist, possess wore knowledge about your religion than you do yourself.

Also, I'm not even going to address animal rights being "nutty", this again illustrates how you really don't know much about your own religious history.

It doesn't matter.

I thought he was resurrected on easter...
he was talking about when Cuddles said he died on easter

Again, I was a douchebag to a douchebag.  Go nitpick somewhere the forget else you brat.

Yet he justifies it by trying to argue that Easter is much more important than Cesar.  Did you not catch that, or has your head been too far up your ass to understand anything that isn't your own bias?

Quit contesting stuff just to contest stuff.  You do it all of the loving time, and you create many more issues than you obviously think you're out to resolve.

In my eyes, religion is just bleach for brainwashed sheep. If I wanted to teach my kids good morals, I'd straight loving tell them what's not okay, and then just guide them along a path of "how to not be an ass"

But hey that's just me.

Ike will think you're being mean, stop it!!!

Really, though, it is.  Religion's roots all come down to power.  All of these organized beliefs are also based on preexisting myths which are seen as being silly or absolute fable by the religious people who promote their versions of the stories.

And I hope these religious forgetnuts realise that Constantine was one hell of an evil mother forgeter.  Talk about someone who deserved to go to "hell".
