Author Topic: Why is the RTB mod manager comments section so full of friends?  (Read 3387 times)

It'd be for the same reason people aren't trusted to moderate their own topics. You just can't trust people to be rational about which comments they remove or keep. Comments are there to give the browser an idea of what they're about to download - if the submitter removes all the negative comments it renders the feature fairly useless.

Nobody uses the Looking for Servers room for its intended purpose.

Instead, kids advertise on the room that is most active: General Discussion.
Hell, even I've done that.
It's not really a problem, I kinda knew a separate chat room for that wouldn't work out from the start.

Why are comments even needed if people are just going to do this?

Pay attention.

How about a way for the mod submitter to "flag" comments on their mods, not entirely delete them, and people have the option to show flagged posts or keep them hidden?
It's less dictatorial than deleting comments, but doesn't require huge amounts of babysitting by RTB admins.  People can see when developers are minimizing spam versus censoring opinions.
However, it would probably be more work to implement.  Anyway, that's my two cents.

It's just not worth the effort. The fact of the matter is that Blockland has a young immature audience who are going to comment stupid things on stuff. Trying to police that is just futile.

at least have a character or size limit.

at least have a character or size limit.
and have the comments not display tml tags or whatever those idiots are using to get huge rainbow text.

The rtb mod manager is in need of a clear out in the comments section in my opinion, and has been for a while.

a character limit with disabled bbccode or whatever should suit us fine

I've added a comment limit of 512 characters which I think is safely below the crash threshold.
