Author Topic: Favorite Game Engine?  (Read 1183 times)

id Tech 3 is where I learned a ton of things about graphics and game programming. Still an amazing piece of software.

Why would someone prefer one game engine to another, unless they make games? Shouldn't one judge things on a game-by-game basis?

In the case of a pure gamer, they would probably be looking had the hit/miss ratio of titles made with that engine.

Torque.

That's the only thing I can figure out how to mod.

Unreal Engine 4 looks so loving amazing if you haven't seen already.
When it is released it will be my favorite engine
I predict a lot of texture streaming and laggy mouse input.  But hey, it has neato quake 1 particles with physics!

I've worked with Source for such a long time and I love it to pieces.

Maybe if your running on-board graphics.
If not, you would obviously be able to change the settings in-game.
But if you don't have a built in graphics card, you really should not build high graphics demanding games.  As you will need to test all levels.

I'm running a pretty good system and textures still stream a lot in Unreal 3, also mouse lag has nothing to do with performance.
