Chrisbot6's Wild West RPG

Oh god, what's he doing now?

You remember all those CityRPGs? Those ones were your sole purpose in life was to attack some rock with some tool to get some number to go up and then avoid the maniacs with the guns on your way home? Those CityRPGs? Yeah, well, this isn't one of those.

You see, i've been looking a while for any point in time where it would be okay to run around shooting people. A few days ago, I saw a western movie. I realized I could make something of CityRPG's most hated mechanic.

A small and probably innaccurate history lesson: In the wild west, law was inforced mainly by the people. There were heroes and there were villans. And then there were the sheriff and his deputies, helped by the heroes to enforce the law.

That's what i'm talking about here. In WWRPG, there will be villan and hero statistics on every player. These stats can dictate among other things what areas the person can access. Of course, villans will be constantly on the run due to their outlaw status.

And there's more. Every villan/hero is randomly chosen a "Nemesis" of opposite statistic level. This is the player that the Hero/Villan will constantly be on the look out for AND have to compete with.

This isn't it, though. All people still have to do work.

For them, work is avalable in places like the mines, the farms, and the newer factories which aren't historically innaccurate at all. Among other things, that is; and all of the jobs will certainly not be "wait around for a while doing forgetall and we pay you". You'll have to actually work for stuff. Miners/Farmers/Factory Workers can be heroes/villans too; just smash someone's head in with a pickaxe on your way home.

The cash system will be much the same as CityRPG, with banks and stuff. However, there's more than one bank, and if a bank gets robbed players in there will lose up to 30% of the money they have in there.

In addition, the Jails that the outlaws are sent to are entirely escapable with outside help; the only thing stopping the criminal from calling his friends to get him out of the jail he's in is the fact that those who are in jail cannot talk. This means a deputy or sheriff is required not only to jail a person, but to properly guard them as well.

Interestingly, the deputies/sheriff can search people now if the people in question allow them to do so. This means we won't be having no more of that "I don't have anything!!11!" bollocks before being mowed down by the minigun the person had in his pocket.

As you can see, the heroes/villans of previous CityRPGs that just annoyed everyone before are now a central mechanic. And there won't be none of that drugs bollocks either.

FAQ
Q: What if there are no heroes?
A: The sheriffs and their deputies have to step in. And there are plenty of them - being a deputy requires hardly any education at all.

Q: How does building work?
A: Bricks cost money. Same as most other CityRPGs; the price varies depending on the size of the brick.

Q: How do towns work?
A: Towns are small and linked by the Train system. Each town has a whole load of jobs, but limited slots. Some players will need to venture out to other towns to find work. Towns are also run by Mayors (Admins) that manage one town each. This is probably going to turn into a personal competition between me and one of my admins to have the nicest looking town, but i'll go for it anyway.

Q: Are there any definite "rules"? Like, administration wise.
A: No spam; chat or otherwise. Spam will be deleted and the money you paid for it will be flushed down a toilet. Things like murder and bounty hunting are held down by the law; admins word is final on everything else.

Q: Do you have cheating friend admins?
A: Admins need to cheat in RPGs to properly administrate them. This is a fact. If you're on the devserver, accusing the admins of "cheating" is the dumbest thing you can do. Admins will not interfere with the legal system, either.

Q: Can I get around without a train?
A: Horses.

Q: Is this going to actually be made?
A: I'm working on it.

Q: Hao2Plai?
A: I'll have a server up in a few weeks.

I just finished the database system for this.

It runs on M.A.S.S.Y. (Multifunctional Automatic Stat Saving (Yay!)) which is a (small) modification of BlockByte. The RPG uses 3 databases to work, but I'm working on combining them all into one database that holds everything.

Jobs-Per-Town, Towns themselves, and Mining is all working. The HUD is good too.

No screenshots yet.

Lol, who started this naming databases thing? It's so corny lol.
