In school i am taking computer programming and dont know if i should take the AP class next year or not.  I dont really know how that class would be different and what we would learn.  So what im pretty much asking is if any of you guys having any experience with that and if its hard or not.  Also what can i benefit from taking it. (The only thing i learned so far is KAREL and Visual Basic which are both pretty easy and the teacher recommed taking the AP class next year). What do i do?

AP is advanced placement, i'm not in them but from my knowledge i think its basically taking college level classes in highschool
stuffload more work but the effort pays off

im taking a computer programming class right now its so boring omg
i finish the stuff early and go on tumblr for the rest of the hour
wouldnt not take again

What language are you learning with?

Like any other AP, your AP computer science class will have a faster-moving curriculum, teaching you more overall.

Actually, in some APs the workload is less because the teacher acknowledges that you don't need a stuffload of busywork.

lol hs programming classes
yeah hs programming classes aren't great, as I learned after I took a real one at UCLA over last summer
but they're still a great supplement to home learning

My ap compsci class, my god, the stupiddents in my class takes 3 times longer than the other classes
I finish within minutes and reddit for the rest of class......

take AP, non-ap will be boring if you have prior coding experience

camp knowledge  > school knowledge

AP compsci A friend here. i'm in a class with 7 people with a guy missing half the time. everyone pretty much copies off of me except for my two other freshmen friends i made in that class (they do it only sometimes). god i'm so glad i'm not in a class with 24 loving people. not that bad tho, we discuss about computer stuff and steam games when nothings happening.

but the good part is that i can take Video Game Programming for my next 3 years.

Java is really hard to learn for starters.

java is a pretty meh language overall.

also if you enjoyed the not ap classes then take the ap ones. simple.
