Why (and how) did you leave your backpack unattended on the bus for that long and not notice them doing it, anyway? It's my understanding that while riding the bus you sit in a seat with your backpack on your lap or on the seat next to you if no one's sitting there.

Someone else was sitting with me and I put it on the floor. I was using my phone.
